Disney has taken another step toward retiring the single rider experience at Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, with the attraction’s dedicated single rider entrance sign now removed from Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The missing signage, previously located near the Serka Zong Bazaar gift shop at the attraction’s entrance, no longer directs guests towards the separate queue. While the removal does not yet mean the service has officially ended, it strongly suggests that Disney is preparing to discontinue the offering in the near future.
For the time being, guests can still access the single rider queue by asking the Cast Member stationed near the attraction entrance. According to Cast Members, the queue remains operational, but only temporarily, with the dedicated single rider line expected to close soon. Meanwhile, the My Disney Experience app continues to list “Single Rider Offered” under the attraction’s accessibility information, creating a short-term discrepancy between the digital listing and the on-site guest experience.
Expedition Everest has long been one of the most popular attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and its single rider option has provided solo visitors and guests willing to split from their party with an alternative to the standby queue. However, operational changes introduced earlier this year reportedly reduced the effectiveness of the single rider line, with waits often becoming significantly longer than they had been previously.
If the queue is officially removed, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will lose its only remaining single rider attraction. Across Walt Disney World, single rider options would then remain only at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Test Track.
Disney has not announced an official closure date for Expedition Everest’s single rider queue. Guests hoping to take advantage of the option during upcoming visits should check with Cast Members upon arrival, as availability may change without notice.
