Overview
Universal Fan Fest Nights returns to Universal Studios Hollywood as a special after-hours event dedicated entirely to fandom culture. Rather than focusing on scares like Halloween Horror Nights, this event leans into immersive storytelling, bringing together worlds from fantasy, anime, gaming and classic film.
Across select evenings from 23rd April to 16th May 2026, the park transforms into a multi-universe experience filled with live entertainment, interactive walkthroughs and themed environments that feel far more involved than standard theme park attractions.
Dates and atmosphere
The event runs on limited nights, typically beginning in the evening and continuing late into the night. Because attendance is capped, it tends to feel more spacious than daytime visits, which makes a noticeable difference when exploring detailed experiences or meeting characters. There’s also a strong fan presence, with many guests choosing to dress up, giving the entire park a convention-like energy.
What you’ll experience
The 2026 lineup blends brand-new additions with returning favourites, all designed to place you inside the story rather than simply observing it.
- Scooby-Doo x Universal Monsters – an immersive backlot adventure with live performers and mystery-solving.
- ONE PIECE: Grand Pirate Show – a high-energy live stunt show featuring the Straw Hat crew.
- Dungeons & Dragons: Secrets of Waterdeep – a detailed walkthrough quest with creature encounters.
- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – enhanced nighttime experiences with magical creature encounters and atmospheric storytelling.
- Super Nintendo World – themed enhancements and interactive elements throughout the land.
One of the standout new experiences combines Scooby-Doo with the classic Universal Monsters. This immersive backlot adventure lets you step onto real film sets while following a mystery alongside Scooby and the gang. It’s designed to feel interactive, with live performers and narrative elements guiding you through the experience.
Another major addition is a live stunt show inspired by One Piece. The Grand Pirate Show brings high-energy action, with dramatic staging, effects and appearances from the Straw Hat crew, creating something closer to a theatrical production than a typical theme park show.
Returning experiences continue to build on what made the event popular in its first year. A large-scale walkthrough based on Dungeons & Dragons places you inside a quest set in Waterdeep, complete with detailed environments and creature encounters. Meanwhile, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter takes on a darker, more atmospheric tone at night, with added encounters and subtle storytelling woven into the land.
Even Super Nintendo World joins in with themed enhancements, giving familiar areas a fresh feel during the event.
Food, merchandise and extras
Beyond the main attractions, a big part of the appeal comes from the smaller details. Food and drink offerings are designed specifically around the featured fandoms, and exclusive merchandise is available throughout the park. Character encounters are more frequent and often more relaxed than during daytime hours, giving you time to properly enjoy the interactions.
UPDATE: Here are the confirmed new food and drink additions for Fan Fest Nights 2026:
For Scooby-Doo Meets the Universal Monsters, new items include the Super Shaggy Sandwich, Scooby Snacks, and the standout Universal Monster 22-inch Hot Dog, alongside the Mystery Box Cupcake for dessert.
In the Dungeons & Dragons: First Roll Tavern, the new additions are Cockatrice Hot Wings, Ranger’s Mark sandwich, Dragon Egg Cheesecake, Gelatinous Cube dessert, Beholder’s Brew Fondue, plus themed drinks such as Detect Magic, Goodberry, Eldritch Blast, and Red Dragon’s Breath.
For Super Nintendo World, the new Yoshi-themed drinks include Yoshi’s Apple Melon Smoothie, Blueberry Ube Smoothie, and Mango Banana Smoothie, along with a collectible Yoshi & Egg drink bottle.
How it compares to other Universal events
Although it shares the same after-hours format as Halloween Horror Nights, the tone is completely different. Instead of horror, the focus here is on adventure, nostalgia and fan culture. It feels closer to stepping inside a series of film sets or fictional worlds, with a strong emphasis on participation rather than spectacle alone.
Final thoughts
Universal Fan Fest Nights 2026 stands out because it blends theme park attractions with immersive theatre and fan convention elements. If you enjoy detailed world-building, character-driven experiences or simply being surrounded by people who share the same interests, it offers something genuinely different from a standard park visit.
It’s less about rushing from ride to ride and more about taking your time, exploring each world and enjoying the atmosphere that brings all these universes together in one place.
