Construction Update: Tropical Americas, Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Construction crews at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are beginning to transform the site that once hosted DinoLand, U.S.A. into something completely new and magical. Inside the developing show building for the upcoming Encanto-themed attraction, the first signs of interior work are now visible, with steel poles rising within the framework and giving a sense of the scale that this ambitious project will occupy. The steel structures may well be the beginnings of interior walls and support for future scenic elements, hinting at how the world of Encanto might soon come to life for Walt Disney World guests.

While it currently looks like a skeletal framework, this ride building is destined to become the façade of Casita from the beloved animated film, inviting visitors into a version of Pueblo Esperanza that goes beyond the original story. It’s part of a broader reimagining that will see the closure of long-running fan favourites such as DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus this February, as the park prepares for the full Tropical Americas land debut scheduled for 2027.

You’ll find up-to-date images showing crew members at work and the growing structure that will soon house one of Walt Disney World’s most anticipated new attractions.

As this project develops over the coming months, the progression from steel and concrete to immersive story spaces will be something to watch for Disney parks fans and Encanto enthusiasts alike.
