Mulan and Rapunzel Arrive at Hollywood Studios Ahead of ‘The Magic of Disney Animation’ Opening

Guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios can now meet two beloved Disney Princesses ahead of one of the park’s biggest upcoming additions. Mulan and Rapunzel have officially begun greeting visitors near Grand Avenue as anticipation builds for the summer 2026 debut of The Magic of Disney Animation.

The new meet-and-greet location is situated close to Ice Cold Hydraulics, between Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Star Tours. According to reports, the characters are appearing on alternating schedules, giving guests the chance to see both with a little planning.

These appearances are widely believed to be an early preview of the “Off the Page!” experience coming with The Magic of Disney Animation later this year. Disney previously revealed that the reimagined attraction will feature themed animation departments inspired by the creative process behind classic animated films. Mulan is expected to appear in the Story department, while Rapunzel will be featured in an environment themed around background and layout artistry.

The Magic of Disney Animation marks the return of a fan-favourite experience that originally operated at Hollywood Studios from 1989 until 2015. The updated version will transform the former Star Wars Launch Bay building into a celebration of Disney animation history, complete with interactive exhibits, character encounters, drawing experiences, and environments inspired by the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California.

Disney has also confirmed that the surrounding area will become “The Walt Disney Studios,” a reimagined courtyard designed to resemble the real-life animation campus. Guests will be able to explore immersive spaces dedicated to storyboarding, hand-drawn animation, lighting, effects, and computer animation.

The arrival of Rapunzel and Mulan gives fans an early glimpse at the creative direction of the new attraction while also adding more rare character interactions to Hollywood Studios. For longtime Disney Parks fans, it also represents a nostalgic nod to the original animation attraction that once showcased real Disney animators at work in Florida.
