Shanghai Disney Resort is preparing for an especially busy autumn, with two major seasonal celebrations set to bring new entertainment, character experiences, food, merchandise and special events to the resort.

The celebrations will begin with the return of Duffy Month in September before transitioning into a Halloween season packed with Disney Villains, Zootopia festivities and expanded after-dark entertainment. Both events will also form part of Shanghai Disneyland’s 10th anniversary celebrations.

Duffy Month returns with a Chinese-inspired twist

Duffy Month will take place from 1st to 30th September 2026, with this year’s event receiving an additional 10th anniversary celebration. A special week dedicated to LinaBell’s fifth anniversary will follow from 23rd to 29th September.

One of the most distinctive additions will be a collaboration between Duffy and Friends and the Shanghai Animation Film Studio. The partnership will bring elements inspired by classic Chinese animation into the park, with a new promotional animated short telling a heartwarming story featuring the characters.

The Chinese-inspired theme will also appear throughout the resort. Decorations will incorporate imagery including peaches, gourds and goldfish, while soft colours associated with Duffy and Friends will feature across banners, ribbons and photo locations.

The characters themselves will receive new costumes inspired by the collaboration. Duffy will wear peach-blossom details, while Gelatoni’s design incorporates lotus flowers and goldfish. ‘Olu Mel, ShellieMay, StellaLou, CookieAnn and LinaBell will each receive their own distinctive Chinese-inspired details, including gourds, swallows, moon embroidery, peach blossoms and butterflies.

Pajama Party Nights bring Duffy into the evening

Duffy Month will also introduce new nighttime experiences during selected Pajama Party Nights.

Taking place from 19th to 20th September and again from 26th to 29th September, the evenings will begin with the Duffy and Friends’ Pajama Party at the Pepsi E-Stage. Duffy and Friends will appear in brand-new pyjamas as they share stories from their adventures before the celebration descends into a playful pillow fight.

The evening will continue with Duffy and Friends’ Special Celebration, a castle projection show featuring the new Duffy Month song “Let’s Get Together”. The projection will bring the characters to life against the Enchanted Storybook Castle while taking guests through imagery inspired by the changing seasons.

Another major addition will be A Voyage with Duffy and Friends at the Enchanted Storybook Castle stage.

The new show will feature an original theme song and follow Duffy and his six friends on an adventure involving a mysterious crystal that needs to be returned across the water. The characters will use their individual talents as they embark on the journey together.

Shanghai Disneyland will also continue its collaboration with Shanghai Huju Opera Theatre. Beginning on 5th September, the “Shanghai Ballad” performance will return on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month, combining Duffy Month with elements of Shanghai’s traditional Huju Opera.

New Duffy food and merchandise

Duffy Month will extend beyond entertainment, with seasonal food and merchandise available across the resort.

Guests will find peach-themed desserts, seasonal drinks and a CookieAnn Made-With-Love Pastry set, alongside updated dishes at Duffy and Friends Celebration Hall. Among the offerings will be ‘Olu Mel’s Island Melody Coconut Shrimp Rice and StellaLou’s Seafood Ribbon Noodles.

CookieAnn Bakery Café will also introduce new creations, including Mango Pomelo and Sago Croffle, as well as new versions of existing favourites such as Passionfruit and Pineapple New York Rolls and White Chocolate Cream Cake.

Two new merchandise collections will accompany the celebration.

The Duffy and Friends Little Voyage Collection will feature plush, accessories and keychains incorporating Chinese-style motifs, along with mooncakes and lifestyle products. One standout item will be a teacup created in collaboration with artisans from Jingdezhen, known as China’s “porcelain capital”.

For fans wanting something more relaxed, the Duffy and Friends Pajama Party Collection will feature cosy apparel and headwear designed around the nighttime celebration.

The Shanghai Disneyland Hotel will also join the festivities with Duffy-themed activities including bedtime storytelling, DIY workshops, lobby games and themed hotel tours.

LinaBell celebrates five years

LinaBell will receive a special spotlight during her fifth anniversary week from 23rd to 29th September.

Guests will have opportunities to celebrate with LinaBell and her friends, including special appearances at the park’s entry portal and a pre-parade celebration marking the character’s milestone.

Halloween arrives in October

Once Duffy Month concludes, Shanghai Disneyland will quickly transform for its Halloween season.

The 2026 Halloween celebration will run from 4th October through 1st November, with the resort promising an expanded experience as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations. The timing will also coincide with the Mid-Autumn Festival and China’s Golden Week national holidays.

Disney Villains will take centre stage throughout the event.

The Halloween entertainment will begin with an additional daytime performance of Donald’s Halloween Treat Cavalcade. Guests in particularly creative Halloween costumes could even be selected to join Donald and Daisy Duck during the cavalcade.

There will also be opportunities to encounter Disney Villains throughout the park as they take over different experiences and locations.

One particularly notable debut will be Peg-Leg Pete, who will make his Shanghai Disneyland Halloween debut as an “evil king”. Mickey and Friends will receive new steampunk-inspired Halloween costumes, while Duffy and Friends will take on the appearance of a whimsical bard troupe.

Zootopia gets its own Halloween celebration

Halloween will also take over Zootopia.

The land will host its annual Howl-o-ween celebration with Judy, Nick and other Zootopia residents. Daily 10-minute Mark Howling sessions will form part of the festivities, alongside seasonal drinks and other Halloween touches designed to immerse guests in the celebration.

The resort’s Spook-tacular Days will also expand to ten days, giving visitors more opportunities to experience Shanghai Disneyland after dark.

The expanded dates will be 16th to 18th October, 23rd to 25th October and 29th October to 1st November.

During these evenings, guests can explore five Party Zones, encounter surprises inside the Alice in Wonderland Maze, attend Donald’s Halloween Treat Party at Festival Forest and collect treats around the resort. The evening will culminate around the Enchanted Storybook Castle with the Disney Villains Castle Celebration.

Halloween food and merchandise

Seasonal dining will once again be an important part of the Halloween celebration.

Shanghai Disneyland will offer Halloween-themed treats, dark-themed creations, seasonal set menus and festive buffets throughout the resort.

There will also be four new Halloween merchandise collections themed around Mickey and Friends, Duffy and Friends, Winnie the Pooh and Friends, and Zootopia.

The collections will include glow-in-the-dark apparel, pumpkin-inspired products, autumn clothing and collectible plush.

The Halloween celebration will extend beyond the theme park itself, with Disneytown hosting its own Halloween activities. Visitors will be able to follow a trick-or-treat trail, explore the Halloween Market and take photographs at seasonal locations.

Golden Week brings another special spectacle

Visitors travelling to Shanghai Disney Resort during China’s Golden Week will have another special nighttime experience to look forward to.

From 1st to 3rd October, a special castle projection accompanied by fireworks will follow ILLUMINATE! A Nighttime Celebration.

Shanghai Disney Resort will also offer seasonal packages for guests wanting to combine their visit with an overnight stay. Options include the Disney Dream Vacation Duffy and Friends Package at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, which includes LinaBell-themed room decoration, breakfast and dinner, two park tickets and in-park food and beverage coupons.

A separate one-day ticket package will include food and beverage offerings alongside a Duffy-themed gift.

A packed autumn for Shanghai Disneyland

With Duffy Month running throughout September and Halloween taking over the resort from October into November, Shanghai Disneyland is set for one of its busiest seasonal periods of 2026.

The celebrations are particularly significant as the resort continues its 10th anniversary year. Duffy and Friends will receive an extensive programme of new entertainment and Chinese-inspired experiences, while Halloween will introduce new character looks, a Peg-Leg Pete debut, expanded nighttime festivities and additional experiences throughout Zootopia and Disneytown.

For Disney fans planning an autumn visit to Shanghai, the combination of Duffy Month, LinaBell’s anniversary, Golden Week and Halloween means there will be a considerable amount of seasonal entertainment to experience across just a few weeks.
