Guests planning a visit to Walt Disney World later this year will need to make note of another upcoming attraction closure at Magic Kingdom, as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to undergo a refurbishment beginning in November.
According to the Walt Disney World refurbishment calendar, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will close from Monday, 2nd November 2026. The attraction’s two associated merchandise locations, Tiana’s Bayou General and Critter Co-Op, are also scheduled to close from the same date.
At present, Disney has not published a specific reopening date for the attraction. Current information indicates that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is expected to return sometime in December 2026, although an exact date has yet to be confirmed.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’s First Major Refurbishment
The upcoming closure will be particularly notable because it represents the first extended refurbishment for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure since the attraction opened at Magic Kingdom in June 2024.
The ride replaced Splash Mountain in Frontierland following the transformation of the former attraction into a new experience inspired by Disney’s animated film The Princess and the Frog.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure takes guests on a musical journey through the Louisiana bayou as Princess Tiana searches for ingredients and friends for a special celebration. The attraction retains the original flume ride infrastructure and major drop from Splash Mountain, while introducing a completely new storyline, characters, music and Audio-Animatronics.
After more than two years of operation, the upcoming maintenance period will give Disney an opportunity to carry out more extensive work than can typically be completed while the attraction remains open.
An Opportunity to Refresh the Attraction
Disney has described the closure as a routine refurbishment, so there is currently no indication that the company is planning a major redesign or storyline change.
However, the timing of the closure has attracted attention among Disney fans.
Since opening, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has experienced periods of operational difficulty, while some of its Audio-Animatronics have occasionally operated with reduced movement or been unavailable altogether. Reports from guests have highlighted various instances where characters and figures have not been performing as expected.
A longer refurbishment provides Disney with an opportunity to address some of these issues and carry out preventative maintenance on the attraction’s complex systems.
For fans of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the hope will be that the ride emerges from the refurbishment looking and operating closer to the experience Disney originally intended.
The Shops Will Also Close
The refurbishment will extend beyond the attraction itself. Tiana’s Bayou General and Critter Co-Op, the two merchandise locations associated with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, are also scheduled to close on 2nd November.
That means guests visiting Magic Kingdom during the refurbishment should not expect to be able to visit these locations as they normally would. Disney has not yet provided details about whether the shops will receive any specific improvements during the closure.
The Timing Could Affect Holiday Visitors
The November closure is particularly significant because it falls at the beginning of one of the busiest periods of the year at Walt Disney World.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is expected to remain closed into December, meaning guests visiting Magic Kingdom during at least part of the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons could find the attraction unavailable.
The lack of a confirmed reopening date is important for anyone planning a December holiday.
Although Disney is currently expected to reopen Tiana’s Bayou Adventure sometime in December, guests should avoid assuming that it will be operating from the beginning of the month. Refurbishment schedules can change, and attractions sometimes reopen earlier or later than originally anticipated.
For now, the safest approach for anyone travelling in November or early December is to plan their Magic Kingdom visit without relying on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure being available.
Another Major Closure at Magic Kingdom
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is not the only major Magic Kingdom attraction facing a temporary closure this autumn.
The Walt Disney World Railroad is scheduled to close from 28th September 2026 for refurbishment and is currently expected to return sometime in November. Depending on when the railroad reopens, there could be a period in early November when both the railroad and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure are unavailable.
That could be particularly noticeable for guests visiting Magic Kingdom around the start of November, especially as the park continues to undergo a period of significant change.
