September is shaping up to be a busy month for refurbishment work across Disney and Universal theme parks worldwide. While some attractions will only close for a few days, others are entering much longer refurbishment programmes that will keep them unavailable throughout September and, in some cases, well into 2027.
This guide covers attractions and facilities that are either already undergoing refurbishment and will remain closed during September, or are scheduled to close for refurbishment during September 2026.
Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom
There are currently no new attraction refurbishments listed for September at Magic Kingdom.
EPCOT
Coral Reef Restaurant is scheduled to close for refurbishment from 8th September 2026, with no reopening date currently listed. Volkunst Clocks and Crafts is also closed for refurbishment still
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
There are currently no new September attraction refurbishments listed.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
There are currently no new September refurbishments or closures listed.
Disneyland Resort
Disneyland Park
Mark Twain Riverboat is scheduled for refurbishment from 8th September to 11th September 2026.
Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition, Main Street Cinema, Pixie Hollow are still closed in September
Mad Tea Party is schedule for refurbishment from 14th September with no reopen date.
Disney California Adventure

Peter Pan’s Flight will remain closed through 19th September after entering refurbishment on 30th August.

Annette’s Diner remains under refurbishment after closing in January, with no reopening date currently listed.
Tokyo Disney Resort
Tokyo Disneyland
Beaver Brothers Explorers Canoes remains closed until 14th September.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant remains closed throughout September as part of a refurbishment running until 22nd October.
The character greeting location in front of the Main Street House remains under refurbishment until 4th October.
Pecos Bill Cafe and Plaza Pavilion Restaurant remain under refurbishment through 1st November.
Snow White’s Adventures will close from 4th September to 22nd September.
The Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents “Aloha E Komo Mai!” will close from 24th September to 23rd October.
The Happy Ride with Baymax will close from 15th September to 29th September.
Westernland Shootin’ Gallery will close from 15th September to 21st September.
Tokyo DisneySea
Baby Center/Nursing Mother’s Lounge remains under refurbishment through 2nd October.
DisneySea Transit Steamer Line, Expedition Photo Archives, Peddlers’ Outpost and Indiana Jones Adventure remain under refurbishment with reopening dates currently listed as TBA.
Papadakis Fresh Fruit will close from 15th September until 31st March 2027.
Tower of Terror will close from 28th September until 5th November.
Hong Kong Disneyland
Hong Kong Disneyland has no new September-specific closures currently listed.
The Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad remains under refurbishment with no reopening date listed, while The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh also remains under refurbishment.
Shanghai Disneyland

The Untrainable Dragon is scheduled for refurbishment from 15th September to 20th September 2026.
Universal Studios Florida
Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show remains closed throughout September as it undergoes a reimagining, with the refurbishment running until winter 2026.
Finnegan’s Bar & Grill also remains under refurbishment into winter 2026.

September 2026 at a glance
The biggest refurbishment impact in September will be at Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disney Resort and Universal Orlando.
Disneyland Paris will see Crush’s Coaster begin a major refurbishment on 7th September, alongside several shorter closures at Disneyland Park.
Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea will have a mixture of short-term and long-running refurbishment closures, including Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Snow White’s Adventures, The Happy Ride with Baymax, Papadakis Fresh Fruit and Tower of Terror.
Universal Orlando will have Jurassic Park River Adventure closed for most of the year, while Horror Make-Up Show continues its reimagining and The Untrainable Dragon has a short September refurbishment.
