Construction continues to gather pace on Shanghai Disneyland’s upcoming Spider-Man-themed land, with the latest milestone revealing an enormous Spider-Bot now taking shape within the expansion.
Shared by Shanghai Disney Resort and Walt Disney Imagineering on social media, the newly released images show a towering yellow Spider-Bot emerging from a red shipping container alongside the track of the land’s signature Spider-Man roller coaster. The imposing figure appears to be one of the area’s largest themed elements and offers guests their clearest look yet at the attraction’s immersive storytelling.
The accompanying post teased the new addition by stating that “something big and menacing” is making its way into the resort, adding that imagination is quickly becoming reality as work progresses on Shanghai Disneyland’s newest themed land.
The Spider-Bot’s arrival marks another major construction milestone for the project, which broke ground in 2025. The new land, located adjacent to Zootopia, will become Shanghai Disneyland’s first major Marvel-themed expansion and will feature a high-speed Spider-Man roller coaster, along with themed dining, shopping, and entertainment offerings.
Recent construction updates have shown steady progress across the site. Track installation for the coaster was completed in June, and the addition of large-scale show elements such as the Spider-Bot suggests the project is moving into a more advanced stage of themed installation. Disney has not yet announced an official opening date for the new land.
The Spider-Bot itself closely resembles the robotic creations seen in Spider-Man attractions and merchandise at other Disney parks, though this oversized version appears to have been designed specifically as a dramatic centrepiece for Shanghai Disneyland’s new Marvel experience.
With construction visibly accelerating and more themed elements being installed, anticipation continues to build for what will become the resort’s ninth themed land and one of Disney’s most ambitious Spider-Man experiences to date.
