Disney Cruise Line is rolling out a series of policy updates that will affect guests across the fleet from 3rd June 2026, with changes targeting alcohol purchases, professional camera equipment, and stateroom decorations.
The revised guidance appears designed to improve onboard safety, reduce damage to ship property, and streamline embarkation procedures as cruise demand continues to grow.
One of the most notable changes affects alcohol purchased during port visits. Under the updated rules, any liquor, spirits, or excess beer and wine bought ashore will now be held by crew members until the end of the voyage rather than being returned during the sailing. Disney Cruise Line already limits the amount of alcohol guests can bring onboard, allowing adults aged 21 and over to carry two unopened bottles of wine or sparkling wine, or six beers, in their carry-on luggage.
Disney has also clarified its policies surrounding camera gear and recording equipment. While standard cameras and personal photography devices remain permitted, larger professional-style setups may now face additional scrutiny during boarding. The move aligns Disney Cruise Line more closely with broader industry efforts to regulate bulky production equipment and reduce operational disruptions in public spaces onboard.
Another area receiving renewed attention is stateroom door decorating, a long-standing cruise tradition among frequent guests. Disney continues to allow decorations in limited circumstances, but the company is reinforcing restrictions around adhesives, lighting, and materials that could damage doors or create fire hazards. The cruise line specifically warns guests not to use tape, glue, or gel adhesives on cabin doors.
The updated policies arrive amid wider discussions across the cruise industry regarding onboard safety and hallway decorations. Several cruise operators, including Royal Caribbean, have recently introduced stricter enforcement around door displays following concerns over fire safety and property damage.
Disney Cruise Line has not announced any major changes to onboard guest experiences alongside these policy updates, but the revisions suggest the company is preparing for another busy summer season with a stronger focus on operational consistency across its expanding fleet.
