Exciting new details have emerged about the upcoming The Lion King attraction at Disneyland Paris, offering a deeper look at how Disney Imagineers are bringing the Pride Lands to life in a completely original way.

Set to be part of the expanding Disney Adventure World, this attraction will mark the first-ever immersive land and ride themed entirely to The Lion King, one of Disney’s most beloved films.

A Groundbreaking Ride Experience

At the heart of the new land will be a large-scale log flume attraction, taking guests on a journey through Simba’s story—from his early days as a cub to his rise as king. The experience will combine water-based thrills with storytelling, featuring multiple drops, including a dramatic final descent of around 16 metres.

The ride itself is massive in scale, with a show building covering roughly 14,000 square metres, making it one of the largest attractions ever constructed at Disneyland Paris.

Guests will travel through nearly 20 iconic scenes from the film, brought to life using advanced Audio-Animatronics and immersive environments designed to recreate the African savanna.

Bioluminescent Effects and Atmospheric Storytelling

One of the most intriguing elements revealed is the use of lighting effects designed to simulate bioluminescence. While not true biological light, these effects will create a glowing, otherworldly atmosphere in certain scenes, enhancing the emotional tone of the ride and adding a sense of magic to nighttime moments.

This approach reflects Disney’s broader ambition to push immersive storytelling further than ever before, blending technology and artistry to make guests feel as though they are inside the film.

Rafiki’s Baobab Tree

Another standout feature of the land will be a large baobab tree inspired by Rafiki, the wise mandrill from the film. This iconic structure is expected to serve as both a visual centrepiece and a thematic anchor for the area, reinforcing the spiritual and symbolic elements of The Lion King.

Pride Rock as the Centrepiece

Towering above the land will be a massive recreation of Pride Rock, which acts as both the entrance to the attraction and a defining visual landmark. Guests will venture beneath it as part of the ride experience, making it a central storytelling device as well as an architectural icon.

The Lion King area is part of a wider transformation of Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World, a major expansion project aimed at redefining the resort experience.

With immersive lands like World of Frozen already opening in 2026, the addition of The Lion King will further expand the park’s storytelling scope, blending beloved franchises with cutting-edge attraction design.
