Disney has officially confirmed that the reimagined Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Walt Disney World will retain its status as a top-tier attraction when it reopens in 2026—meaning it will continue to be included in premium guest perks.
The high-speed indoor coaster, located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, is currently undergoing a major transformation. After closing on 1st March 2026, the long-running “Starring Aerosmith” version has been retired to make way for a brand-new experience featuring The Muppets.
A New Band Takes the Stage
When the attraction reopens in summer 2026, it will debut as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. The updated storyline will follow the chaotic antics of the Electric Mayhem band as guests race through Los Angeles in a high-speed limousine to make it to a concert on time.
While the ride system itself will remain largely unchanged, Disney is overhauling the theme, music, and visual elements. Expect new animatronics, updated scenes, and a distinctly Muppet-style twist layered over the same intense launches and inversions that made the original ride famous.
Still a Headliner Attraction
Despite the retheme, Disney has confirmed that the coaster will maintain its position as a premier attraction within the park’s ride reservation system. In practical terms, that means it will continue to be one of the most in-demand rides included in higher-tier perks like Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections.
This decision signals that Disney expects the updated version to remain just as लोकप्रिय—if not more so—than its predecessor. Given the ride’s legacy as one of the park’s fastest and most thrilling experiences, that’s hardly surprising.
A Major Shift for a Classic Ride
Originally opening in 1999, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster quickly became a fan favourite thanks to its high-speed launch, inversions, and iconic rock soundtrack. Its closure marks the end of a 27-year run tied to Aerosmith, but also the beginning of a new chapter aimed at refreshing the attraction for modern audiences.
The move also aligns with broader changes at Hollywood Studios, where Disney has been reworking classic attractions and introducing new intellectual properties to keep the park evolving.
What Comes Next
Although Disney has not announced an exact reopening date, the attraction is expected to return sometime in summer 2026. Construction updates show steady progress, with major exterior elements already being redesigned to match the new theme.
