Universal Orlando has revealed that one of its long-running live attractions, the Horror Make-Up Show at Universal Studios Florida, will wrap up its current run in early January 2026, with the final performance scheduled for 4th January. After decades of entertaining guests with a mix of practical effects demonstrations and audience participation, the show will close temporarily so it can be refreshed.
The plan is not to retire the experience entirely but to overhaul it. When it returns later in 2026, it will still lean into its blend of specialeffects education and humour, but with updated material drawn from both beloved classic horror and more recent franchises in Universal’s catalogue. That could mean bringing in themes and references that reflect newer properties seen in the parks and at events like Halloween Horror Nights.
For fans who have grown up with the show, this change represents a moment of transition. It’s been a fixture in the Pantages Theatre for years and remains a chance to step out of the Florida sun for some goofy, spooky fun. The gap between the closing and reopening may leave a noticeable quiet in the park’s entertainment lineup, but the refreshed version aims to keep the spirit of the original alive while giving it a more modern twist.
