Disney’s Animal Kingdom is preparing to bring back its unique style of holiday celebration for the 2026 season, combining wildlife-inspired festivities with Christmas entertainment across Discovery Island. Guests visiting during the holiday period will be able to enjoy returning favourites including the Merry Menagerie, the Tree of Life Awakenings Holiday Edition, and festive character appearances.

The 2026 Walt Disney World holiday season will run from 13th November 2026 through 6th January 2027, with decorations, seasonal entertainment, special food and merchandise arriving across the resort. At Animal Kingdom, the celebrations will focus on the park’s natural surroundings, creating a holiday atmosphere that blends winter charm with the park’s themes of animals and conservation.

One of the most anticipated returning experiences is the Merry Menagerie on Discovery Island. This seasonal entertainment offering features handcrafted animal puppets that roam the area, bringing a collection of Arctic-inspired creatures to life. Guests can encounter penguins, reindeer, foxes and polar bears as they wander through the park alongside live musicians and festive surroundings.

The Merry Menagerie has become a popular Animal Kingdom holiday tradition because of its more relaxed and interactive style. Rather than being a traditional stage show, the experience allows visitors to discover the characters while exploring Discovery Island, creating opportunities for unexpected encounters and photos throughout the day.

As evening arrives, the Tree of Life will once again become the centrepiece of Animal Kingdom’s nighttime celebrations with the return of the Tree of Life Awakenings Holiday Edition. The iconic park landmark will be transformed with colourful projections, animated imagery and seasonal stories that bring the carved animals on the tree to life.

The holiday version of the show adds a winter-inspired atmosphere to the existing Tree of Life Awakenings experience. Performances begin after dark and repeat throughout the evening, allowing guests multiple chances to watch the projections before the park closes.

Character fans will also have the opportunity to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in festive outfits at Adventurers Outpost. The pair will appear in holiday attire, giving guests a chance to capture seasonal photos during their visit.

Additional seasonal offerings will include Disney-themed artwork from artist Rob Kaz at Island Mercantile on Discovery Island. Kaz’s work will be available throughout the holiday season, with special guest appearances scheduled during part of November.

While other Walt Disney World parks often take centre stage during the holidays, Animal Kingdom’s celebrations offer something different. Instead of focusing solely on traditional Christmas imagery, the park creates a festive experience built around nature, storytelling and wildlife, making it a distinctive stop for guests visiting during the 2026 holiday season.
