Disneyland Paris has officially revealed the name of its highly anticipated attraction inspired by Pixar’s beloved film Up: Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings. The announcement marks an exciting new chapter in the ongoing transformation of the resort’s second park, now known as Disney Adventure World.
Set to open in 2027, the attraction will bring guests into the adventurous spirit of Carl, Russell, and the Wilderness Explorers. Designed as a family-friendly experience, it will be the first major theme park ride anywhere in the world based on Up!, offering visitors a chance to quite literally “take flight” in a whimsical and immersive setting.
A flying adventure for all ages
Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings will take the form of a flying carousel-style attraction, a classic amusement ride reimagined with Disney storytelling. Guests will board swing-like seats that lift and spin through the sky, simulating the sensation of soaring high above the park—echoing the iconic balloon-powered journey from the film.
The ride will feature a mix of single and double seats, allowing visitors to enjoy the experience either solo or alongside friends and family. As the attraction rotates, a tilting mechanism will enhance the feeling of flight, adding a dynamic element to the otherwise gentle, family-oriented ride system.
Immersive storytelling and themed environments
True to Disney’s design philosophy, the attraction will go beyond the ride itself. The queue area will be divided into four themed zones, each inspired by key moments and emotional beats from Up. Guests can expect to encounter detailed props and references from the film, such as Carl’s childhood aviator gear and Ellie’s adventure book, reinforcing the narrative of exploration and discovery.
The story behind the attraction invites visitors to join the Wilderness Explorers and earn their “Aviation badge,” tying directly into Russell’s character and the film’s themes of curiosity, friendship, and adventure.
A scenic addition to Adventure Way
The attraction will be located along Adventure Way, a central promenade within Disney Adventure World. It will sit within a lush, themed garden inspired by the natural environments seen in Up!, offering guests a tranquil space to explore before or after their ride.
Architecturally, the design blends Art Nouveau influences with playful references to the film, including balloon motifs and elements inspired by early aviation. The overall aesthetic aims to harmonise with the surrounding land while maintaining a distinctive identity rooted in Pixar storytelling.
Part of a Wider transformation
The introduction of Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings is just one piece of a much larger evolution at Disneyland Paris. Following the rebranding of Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World on 29th March 2026, the resort has been expanding rapidly with new lands, attractions, and experiences.
Future developments already in progress include immersive areas themed to Frozen and The Lion King, highlighting Disney’s long-term commitment to enhancing the park’s storytelling and guest experience.
Looking ahead
With its blend of nostalgic charm, innovative design, and heartfelt storytelling, Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings promises to be a standout addition to Disneyland Paris. By capturing the emotional core and adventurous spirit of Up, the attraction is set to offer guests of all ages a memorable and uplifting experience when it opens in 2027.
As Disney Adventure World continues to grow, this new attraction signals a future filled with imagination, exploration, and new ways to experience beloved stories.
