‘Tales of Magic’ to Stop Using Drones

Disneyland Paris is preparing for several changes to its nighttime entertainment, including the removal of drones from one of its newest shows and adjustments due to upcoming refurbishment work on Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Disneyland Paris Removing Drones from “Disney Tales of Magic”

Disneyland Paris has confirmed that its nighttime spectacular “Disney Tales of Magic” will soon stop using drones as part of the show. According to an announcement shared by the official Disneyland Pass social media accounts, the change will take effect on 1st April 2026.

The show will continue to run nightly at Disneyland Park, but without the aerial drone choreography that previously formed a key part of the production. Instead, the updated version will focus more heavily on projection mapping, lighting, and pyrotechnic effects to deliver the same storytelling experience.

“Disney Tales of Magic” originally debuted in January 2025 and quickly became one of the resort’s most ambitious nighttime productions. The show combined music, fireworks, projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle, and lighting effects stretching along Main Street, U.S.A., creating a large immersive viewing area for guests throughout the park.

Castle Refurbishment Will Further Modify the Show

Additional changes will take place beginning on 4th May 2026 when refurbishment work begins on the bridge leading to Sleeping Beauty Castle. The maintenance project is expected to run through the end of September 2026.

During this period, some elements of the show will temporarily disappear. The fountain effects used in the nighttime spectacular will be removed while construction is underway. To compensate, Disneyland Paris plans to introduce new pyrotechnic sequences to maintain the visual impact of the performance.

Despite the work taking place, the castle itself and its attractions—including La Tanière du Dragon beneath the structure—will remain accessible to guests throughout the refurbishment.

Drones Will Continue Elsewhere at the Resort

Although drones are being removed from “Disney Tales of Magic,” they are not disappearing from Disneyland Paris entirely. The technology will instead feature prominently in another upcoming nighttime production at the resort.

The new show “Disney Cascade of Lights,” debuting at Disney Adventure World on 29th March 2026, will incorporate large-scale drone choreography alongside fountains, projections, and other special effects.

This shift allows Disneyland Paris to continue offering drone-based entertainment while differentiating the nighttime shows across its two parks.

A Changing Era for Disneyland Paris Nighttime Spectaculars

The adjustments to “Disney Tales of Magic” highlight the evolving nature of Disney’s nighttime entertainment. Shows are frequently updated to accommodate maintenance projects, introduce new technology, or shift creative focus.

Even with the removal of drones and the upcoming refurbishment work, the core experience of the show will remain intact, continuing to deliver projection-driven storytelling and fireworks across Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street.

At the same time, the addition of “Disney Cascade of Lights” at Disney Adventure World suggests the resort is expanding its nighttime offerings rather than reducing them, ensuring visitors will still experience cutting-edge effects—including drone displays—during their visit to Disneyland Paris.

The result is a reshuffled but still ambitious nighttime entertainment lineup as Disneyland Paris moves into a busy 2026 season filled with new attractions, expansions, and entertainment updates.
