Refurbishment for Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar Pushed Back to March

At the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, one of the resort’s most iconic themed lounges is getting a little extra life before its next chapter begins. The much-anticipated interior refurbishment of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar has been delayed by approximately two weeks, giving fans a bit more time to savour the bar’s lively atmosphere before construction begins.

Disney had originally slated the indoor seating area to close on 17th February 2026, but updated scheduling now places the start of the closure on 2nd March 2026. This gives visitors heading to the Disneyland Resort in late February one last chance to experience the full indoor ambience, complete with its immersive decor and themed entertainment.

Despite this shift in schedule, the refurbishment itself hasn’t changed in scope. The interior will be taken offline through spring, with Disney aiming to have the bar ready in time to celebrate its 15th anniversary on 25th May 2026. Guests shouldn’t expect a complete reopening before then, but the general plan remains to have everything refreshed for the summer season.

For those who’ve built part of their Disneyland trip around a visit to Trader Sam’s, there’s a silver lining; while the indoor area will be closed during construction, the outdoor seating area isn’t going anywhere. Patrons can still enjoy food and drinks al fresco, and Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill nearby will remain open as an alternate spot for refreshments.

The refurbishment is more than cosmetic. Permits filed in late 2025 reveal Disney plans to install updated gas tiki torches, modernise show and lighting effects, and carry out various technical improvements that should keep the beloved lounge feeling vibrant and fresh for years to come.

While a short delay might seem minor, for many fans and visitors it means an extra couple of weeks to step into the playful world of Trader Sam’s — iconic tiki mugs, interactive effects and all — before the bar takes a brief hiatus for its next evolution.
