At Hong Kong Disneyland, the landscape of Tomorrowland is shifting as construction walls have gone up in preparation for an exciting new attraction. The Tomorrowland Stage, alongside the nearby NRG POD snack kiosk, was closed and enclosed behind barriers in late January as work gets underway on a major project.
Photographs shared on social media show the stretch of construction walls running from the Space Traders gift shop near Space Mountain all the way to the Expo Shop — the park’s Marvel merchandise store. Although the walls obscure much of the area, remnants of the previous staging area and themed decor can still be glimpsed behind them, with cranes visible nearby signalling the start of serious structural work.
This development marks a significant milestone in Hong Kong Disneyland’s long-planned Marvel expansion. Back in 2016 the park announced the Stark Expo concept, which was intended to transform part of Tomorrowland into an immersive Marvel zone. That plan led to the opening of Iron Man Experience in 2017 and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! in 2019, replacing Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.
A highly anticipated Avengers-themed ride — originally conceived as an E-ticket featuring the Quinjet — was first teased years ago with Autopia’s closure in 2016 to make way for it. Following a period of silence and the Quinjet concept’s eventual cancellation, Disney reignited fan excitement in 2024 with a fresh vision: a Spider-Man-centred attraction designed to anchor the Marvel expansion.
The new ride, according to previously released concept art, promises to combine the thrill of a Tower of Terror-style drop tower with appearances from a wider cast of Marvel heroes, extending beyond just Spider-Man. The design hints at an experience that blends narrative spectacle with high-impact ride mechanics — a bold addition that will broaden the park’s roster of immersive attractions.
While no official opening date has been announced yet, the presence of construction infrastructure suggests progress is gaining momentum. For fans of Marvel and Disney Parks alike, this project represents one of the most eagerly awaited developments in the resort’s future slate — an exciting new chapter for Hong Kong Disneyland’s evolving Tomorrowland.
