Grizzly River Run Refurbishment Update

Refurbishment work is now in progress on Grizzly River Run, the popular white-water raft ride at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California. The attraction closed in early January as part of its routine annual maintenance programme, and teams have moved in to begin restoration and upkeep on key elements of the experience.

Scaffolding now wraps portions of the ride’s iconic Grizzly Peak mountain façade, covered with protective beige scrim as crews tackle what appears to be substantial structural and cosmetic work. Observers say this could include repairs to the rockwork, re-sculpting of the detailed surfaces that give the rapids their rugged natural theme, and fresh paint where it’s needed most. At this stage, Disney has not announced an official reopening date, leaving hopeful guests monitoring the park’s schedule closely.

Grizzly River Run has long been a favourite for visitors seeking a splashy, adrenaline-filled break from the California sun. The ride winds through the wilderness-inspired setting of Grizzly Peak, delivering twists, drops and plenty of water through twisting river channels before returning to calmer waters near the ride’s exit. Due to seasonal closures and refurbishment cycles, it often goes offline in the cooler months, with past years’ schedules showing closures stretching into March.

This year’s refurbishment comes alongside seasonal downtime for other attractions across Disney California Adventure. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, a gentle family ride, is scheduled to reopen this week on 23rd January, while the high-speed Incredicoaster is due to welcome back riders on 6th February following its maintenance period.

For fans of Disneyland Resort’s attractions, these periodic closures are part of keeping favourite rides safe, reliable and visually polished for the busy months ahead, particularly as spring and summer crowds begin to return. Watch the park’s official channels or mobile app for updates on reopening dates as refurbishment work continues.
