Disneyland Paris is offering a first look at the creative and technical work behind Disney Cascade of Lights, an ambitious new nighttime spectacular set to debut on 29 March 2026 at Disney Adventure World (the reimagined second park formerly known as Walt Disney Studios Park).
At the heart of the production is an intricate light and drone show staged on Adventure Bay’s lake, where technicians are currently rehearsing nightly. A custom-built central platform and four extendable barges will form the floating stage, integrating fountains, projectors, lighting rigs and pyrotechnics. The entire structure, weighing around 160 tonnes, is carefully positioned using electric workboats trained for precision.
What sets this show apart is the blending of 379 aerial and aquatic drones specially engineered for the production. These drones — including water-capable units nicknamed “ducks” — work with lighting, water effects and fireworks to create a dynamic spectacle that plays over and above the lake’s surface. The water itself amplifies the light patterns, creating a vivid visual effect unlike anything previously seen at the resort.
Creative producer Ben Spalding explains that this concept has been years in the making, evolving from earlier Disney drone projects into a fully immersive experience that brings the performance closer to audiences.
Storytelling remains central to the show’s design, with the narrative built around the idea of inspiration. Characters representing courage, determination and other emotional themes — from classic Disney heroes to more modern figures — interact with this central motif, creating a show that aims to resonate with visitors of all ages.
The musical score, recorded with a full orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, supports the emotional arc and features an original song that underscores the show’s theme.
To ensure a great view from all around the 3-hectare lake, the creative team has optimized lighting and sound placement so guests can enjoy the spectacle from every viewpoint. Environmental considerations — such as electric boat power and eco-friendly materials for pyrotechnics — have also been incorporated into the design to minimize impact.
Disney Cascade of Lights promises to be a major addition to the resort’s entertainment lineup — blending cutting-edge technology with storytelling and emotional depth in a unique lake-based spectacle.
